Four Years
Well, that's it. High school is over for good. It seems like it could be any other day: gray, rainy, cold (in May!). But today was truly our last day at Roncalli High School. I'm caught between sadness and excitment, which has left me just feeling detached and indifferent. Life goes on. We must move on too. Still, some things I'll miss; like all my friends that I'm leaving behind in the fall to attend Point. While some I'll take with me, some I'll leave behind, and some I'll make anew. I don't think a sense of total freedom will hit me until graduation...or maybe tomorrow morning when I wake up at whatever hour I please. Still...one era of my life is over, but I'm glad it was in the first place. Some have said that high school is the best time of our lives...but I don't think that's true at all. Anyone who says that has just never grown beyond those four years as teens in their hometown. As a senior, I've enjoyed feeling like top-dog, but I know I'll get more than a taste of humble pie when I arrive in Point this fall. Hopefully I'll be ready to take it, and makes some new friends, have new experiences, and grow in the next set of four years.
