So I haven't blogged in months, obviously, but I'm not going to write in a filler explaining what's been going on since I last blogged because frankly it'd just be boring.
However! Today I finally received my room assignment from school. I opened it immediately after seeing it, and, after finding my new roommate's name, immediately went to see her Facebook page.
Here's a little quote from King Lear that sums up my reaction:
Lear: No.
Kent: Yes.
Lear: No, I say.
Kent: I say, yea.
Lear: No, no they would not.
Kent: Yes, they have.
Lear: By Jupiter, I swear, no.
Kent: By Juno, I swear, ay.
Lear: They durs't not do't; They could not, would not do't; 'tis worse than murder
To do upon respect such violent outrage!
Imagine that with me as Lear and with Harsh Reality as Kent, and you've got it perfect. I mean, now cruel is it that I get two complete ditzes two years in a row? And this one looks like she may be worse than Gretchen! I didn't even think that was possible!
Of course, it's very likely that I am judging a book by its cover and should probably reserve my judgement until I actually meet her. Afterall, she may be a perfectly sweet sort of girl who will try her best to put up with me and we may end up bosom companions for life...BUT I HIGHLY DOUBT IT.
I mean, the way she describes herself is reminiscent of a 13 year old, let alone a self-respecting college student! Take a look at it! http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=1336258140&ref=ts
How am I ever going to get along with her? I tried, I really did, with Gretchen. I was nice and courteous to her face, despite the amount of bitching I did to all my friends, and we were always on civil terms! Yet, I needed to bitch in order to keep sane in that environment of constant self-repression! Now I fear that this year will be the same thing all over again!
Ye gods I hope I'm wrong! I hope she'll be tolerable and not annoying and not prone to staying up late! If I have to work the opening shift at work, which I will more than likely, I had better be able to get my sleep, damnit!
Okay, I'll stop ranting angrily. Maybe it won't be so bad. Maybe it will. Who knows? The only comfort I can get from this is that I will only have to put up with her for one semester. London never looked so good!
Here's another quote from King Lear, this time summing up my mood: Gloucester: "As flies to wanton boys, are we to the gods,— They kill us for their sport."

I actually don't think it looks all that bad judging by her facebook page. and I mean, if you're going to judge solely by that, when was the last time you updated yours? so...just saying. Has she responded to your message or anything? I certainly wouldn't freak out yet, you've not even talked to the girl...at least you've found a way to contact your roommate! I've got nothing. grrr
Maybe instead of being nice, you should be yourself! Lol I mean, not that you're not nice but you know what I mean. I don't tend to get along with fake nice people either soooo yeah! Hope your roommate doesn't suck! She doesn't sound THAT bad. Not really good but eh, you never know.
